EARLY DETECTION OF GlAUCOMA USING BRAIN COMPUTER INTERFACE TECHNOLOGY

 

Glaucoma causes permanent blindness over the age of 50 years. About 11.2 million of people in India got affected by glaucoma. Glaucoma creates peripheral vision loss at very slow rate which cannot be recovered back. Early detection of glaucoma in the patient is the interest of this study. Standard Automated Perimetry (SAP) is the existing diagnosis by the physician where the patient needs to focus the flickering light stimuli over a period of time. Steady-State Visual Evoked Potential (SSVEP) based glaucoma diagnosis, in which the patient needs to focus on the flickering stimuli, based on applied stimuli. By using Brain Computer Interface (BCI) technology, the brain signal generated can be detected using Electroencephalography. A visual response map is drawn based on the brain signal. By analyzing the visual response map, the early detection of glaucoma BCI is possible with higher accuracy.
